OUR STORY & THE FOUNDER

Meet Coach Moose – Founder of AMPT (a.k.a. “The Visionary”)

Ricky “Moose” Asplen created AMPT as a beacon of safety, comfort, and growth for anyone looking to better themselves. After navigating a rapidly changing world and facing his own battles with depression, stress, and anxiety, Coach Moose found his purpose in helping others. His background is as diverse as they come – engineer, combat veteran, entrepreneur, philosopher, athlete, dog dad – and those experiences shaped the supportive, holistic approach at AMPT.

Moose believes in true, lasting change, and he even distilled his philosophy into what we call the AMPT Baseline Manifesto – core principles like embracing Variation, finding your “Wise Mind” (balanced mindset), pursuing Self-Mastery, and prioritizing Quality of Life over aesthetics. These principles guide our approach every day. Moose knows that real, lasting change takes time (often spanning generations), and he’s driven to plant the seeds of that change now. He built AMPT to be a resource for the community: a place to reduce stress and suffering while discovering your full potential. When you step into AMPT, you’re experiencing Moose’s lifelong mission of service – to help people gain a deeper understanding of themselves, find freedom through fitness, and live with greater fulfillment

Coach Moose

“The Visionary” (Founder & Head Coach)

A combat veteran and former engineer, Moose brings systems thinking to human-first coaching. He blends functional strength, fascia-focused bodywork, corrective mechanics, breathwork, and mindfulness to create results that last. His gift is turning complexity into clear, doable plans that build capacity in your body and calm in your mind. You do not need to have it all together. Show up, be honest about where you are, and trust the process. Moose meets you with structure, education, and steady accountability so progress becomes your lifestyle.

Specialties: Functional strength and longevity, pain and posture restoration, fascia and body mapping, nervous system regulation and stress management, corrective exercise, weight loss and metabolic health, habit design and mindset coaching

Coach Thomas

“The Comeback Coach”

Thomas is proof that transformation is possible—he lost over 115 pounds and rebuilt his life, and now he helps others do the same with empathy and structure. He makes the gym feel safe and doable for beginners and restarters, turning anxiety into momentum and small wins into big change. Training with Thomas is straightforward and uplifting: functional strength, clear plans, and zero judgment. He meets you where you are and walks with you until you believe in yourself again.

Coach Cat

“The Mindful Strength Builder”

A hybrid athlete and empathetic coach, Cat blends strength training with mindful, human-first coaching. She has competed in powerlifting, trained in CrossFit, finished Hyrox races, and learned from top bodybuilding mentors. That range shows up in her programming. Cat teaches you how to move with intention, understand your body, and build confidence that carries into real life. You do not need to have it all figured out. Show up, follow the plan, and grow. Whether you are postpartum, new to lifting, or chasing performance, Cat meets you where you are with smart, science-based training, clear education, and steady accountability.

Coach Kieran

“The Movement Architect”

Kieran blends science and heart to help people move better—and live better. From athletes chasing longevity to clients navigating neurological challenges, he designs training that speaks to the nervous system as much as the muscles. Sessions feel calm, precise, and purposeful: breath, balance, and strength woven together so your body relearns efficient patterns. With Kieran, “movement is medicine” isn’t a slogan—it’s a plan you can feel working, week by week.

Coach Luke

 “The Light Heart”

Luke is the warm, welcoming spirit of AMPT’s coaching team. He’s known for his infectious enthusiasm and the genuine care he shows each client. With Luke, training is as much about enjoyment and emotional support as it is about exercise. He excels at making newcomers feel at ease and helping anyone who’s anxious about working out find their groove. Luke believes in the power of community – you’ll often find him leading group classes and cheering the loudest for everyone’s progress.

Coach Sergio

“The Mobility Master”

With a background in kinesiology and biomechanics, Sergio is our go-to expert for mobility, flexibility, and injury prevention. He has a gift for helping clients move better and feel better. Whether you’re looking to improve your range of motion, recover from an injury, or eliminate nagging pain, Sergio will design personalized routines to get you there. His sessions are equal parts challenge and education – you’ll learn about your body with every workout.

AMPT is proudly located in the heart of Savannah’s West Broad neighborhood at 411 W. Charlton St., Unit A, Savannah, GA 31401 – a historic area that’s as vibrant as our gym’s murals. We chose this location because we believe in community, and we love being part of this one. (Plus, there’s free parking in the West Broad lot, so you can focus on your workout, not worry about the meter.) Our space is designed to make you feel at home – from the friendly front-desk greetings to our resident gym dog occasionally wandering over for a belly rub!
